Changing Perspectives of Experience/London Service

Now that my service hours are complete (yay!), looking back on my service experiences I realize how many different opportunities there are for service learning events.  Thirty hours was very easy to complete considering the amount of different events there were to choose from.  I am even considering continuing with some service learning activities because of the variety to pick from.  My hours consisted of working at the Oxfam bookstore, cleaning the banks of the Thames River, gardening in Richmond Park, and cheering along marathon runners for Cancer Research.  Those are only four of the several activities I could have chosen.  I just recently learned about people volunteering their time to spend playing with puppies while their owners are at work.  This sounds like so much fun.  I could probably spend hours with this organization and not even realize it.  Other organization such as Crime Stoppers, sound extremely interesting.  I think it would be fun to be apart of such a place where they help get criminals off the streets and are making the areas safer places for people to live.  I have always volunteered with races or after school programs and have never really looked into all the different possibilities out there.  There is a service-learning event for practically an area of interest.  When I get back to Northeastern, I plan on continuing my volunteering with different organizations that I learn about when I get home.
